Description
The red Crinum Asiaticum Spider Lily is a spectacularly huge flower.
Growing to over 5 feet high with 5 foot long sword to strap shaped leaves. The plant is native to the tropics and subtropics Asia and Africa.
It was raining when I took this photograph on the island of Maui, resulting in an almost watercolor effect.
"Crinum are found along the sides of streams and lakes in tropical and subtropical areas worldwide, including South Africa." Wikipedia.
They are gorgeous to see in person with amazing clumps of impressive flowers arranged in a spiral, the petals are white with hues of red and pink. However, all parts of the crinum lily including the bulb are poisonous and care should be taken when handling.
The first time ever I saw these beautiful lilies, they took my breath away.
I think they are gorgeous and took many photos of them. This photo is one of my favourites.

I have this plant in my front yard, though it's not this same red. I didn't know what it was called until now. They are stunning, And I know what a challenge they are to photograph well. You have done a superb job of it. F/V
