a very special tropical flower spotted in the rainforest of Hana, Maui, Hawaii.
Photographed in the shade near trees, these beautiful and exotic flowers are a real treasure to see in person.

The petals are so delicate and pearlescent white with sparkle and iridescence.
was wishing i could have stayed in the area longer so that with the sun change i could see them sparkle in the sunlight, however, I am truly blessed to have seen them at all and cherish this new discover, for i had never seen them before in my entire life.

the reed-like stems of this Crepe Ginger are about 6 feet high, and the flowers are ruffled and fringed, about 3 inches in diameter. the terminal cones (from which the flowers emerge) are glossy red.
