Description
early this morning I was out in the meadow while it was raining, the most wonderful cool mountain spring shower, and I noticed the violet lilacs are budding. As I was photographing the lilacs, the sun peeked out from the clouds for just a couple seconds casting this beautiful light in the most random places as the sun rays shown through the branches and leaves.
I love this photograph because other budding lilac clusters are seen in the background.
This variety of Lilac is the most amazing violet colour, and is so fragrant.
So lovely to see them just before they will bloom.
Syringa vulgaris (lilac or common lilac) is a species of flowering plant in the olive family Oleaceae, native to the Balkan Peninsula where it grows on rocky hills.
Here these violet lilacs are growing in lush green meadow right next to the creek where their "feet" are wet most of the year. Surprising really because they seem to flourish here in these conditions.
