Description
this beautiful buckskin horse was grazing in the lush meadow of the rainforest near Hana, Maui accompanied by three Mynas who took turns riding on the horse's back and withers, the horse didn't mind at all.
...
it was raining lightly when I took this photo. As I watched, the Myna birds were constantly on the move as the horse was grazing and kept taking steps.
...
sometimes the Myna birds would fly down to the ground near the horse's feet, but then would fly back up again to ride on the horse's back and withers. apparently, the birds were eating insects. I am sure the horse appreciated this. as far as I could see, this was the only horse in this meadow, and I could see as far as the mountain in the distance. but of course there was jungle and lots of trees, so there could have been other horses in the area and i just couldn't see them. but i think this horse was alone with the company of these delightful and energetic birds.

I see this happen all the time with the horses next door ... I wonder why the birds do this...? I drove out to Hana when we were there, probably 10 years ago now, It is SO pretty along the way! Great Capture of the Bird hanging out on this Adorable Horse!

hi Kathy, i think the birds and the horse have a great relationship because the birds are feeding on insects. Hana really is beautiful isn't it! thank you so much for your wonderful comment
