Description
Hawaiian Ti plant
Cordyline terminalis
"good luck" tree
This is a variegated red/green variety of Hawaiian Ti.
Hawaiians plant Ti in their landscapes as spiritual guardians and protection, the Ti is very useful in so many ways: leaves are used to make thatch, capes, sandals, wrappers for food, used to make hula skirts, in flower arrangements and to impart special flavour to foods when wrapped and steamed.
Hawaiian Ti is beautiful and I would love to grow them in my solarium here in Montana.
I took this photograph in Iao Valley, Maui
