Description
what a delight to see this beautiful young Merriam's Turkey tom visit my property.
He arrived along with a hen to feed on the wild bird seed I place in feeders.
We have a wide variety of wildlife here in the mountains of Western Montana, and I have Hummingbird feeders, bird baths and bird feeders all over the place as well as nest boxes on fence posts ~ often the little birds scratch out the wild bird seed from the feeders and it lands on the ground.
While the turkey hen was preening herself, the tom displayed for her and strutted around ~ he's so beautiful ~ i enjoyed listening to him gobble and make drumming sounds which is quite loud and caused by him vibrating his body and feathers ~ truly amazing

The Wild Turkey (Meleagris gallopavo) is native to North America.
They are large and can fly great distance. Roost high in the forest trees at night.
It's fantastic to rise early in the morning and witness them fly down from the branches of tall Pine and Fir trees.
They are incredibly intelligent, agile and swift. Amazing fliers.
