The Orca Mermaid lives freely with the orcas in the cold icy waters of the glacial Arctic Sea.
after waking from a dream where I envisioned this orca mermaid, i immediately began painting my dream from memory, my vision of the Killer Whale Mermaid.
the painting is photographed while the paint is still wet. This painting evokes amazing emotions in people when viewing it in person. I have seen people instantly begin crying, shedding tears of joy upon seeing the mermaid and orcas.
I am not sure why, perhaps it is the emotions felt by the power of the orcas, clearly expressed. the background is acrylics mixed with water, I turned the canvas many times to allow the paints to flow and give it a more fluid watery appearance. Using paints straight out of the tube to paint the mermaid and the orca which are leaping up and out of the water, there is so much depth and movement. the paints are quite thick, not really impasto, but definitely dimensional.
I completed this painting within 5 hours upon waking from my dream.
She truly is a vision of power and beauty.
