Description
the Alpinia Purpurata "Jungle King" Red Ginger truly deserves its magnificent name for it is a magnificent and large tropical flower. I photographed this one in the rainforest of Hana, Maui, Hawaii. The plant has very large leaves and grows up to 12 feet in height with stalks shooting up toward the sunlight.
Jungle King red ginger has a flower head twice as large as red ginger and has small white flowers emerging from its flower bracts. Incredibly beautiful and showy. When I brushed up against the lance like leaves, the scent is a spicy bouquet of ginger which is unforgettable.

Love how the white parts look like hankies in little breast pockets. That's quite a dramatic bloom Karon, well captured.
